This last week of class for the year, we made gorgeous watercolor Christmas cards. I love how they turned out, and we sure had a lot of fun making them. We got inspired by reading (singing) “Walking in a Winter Wonderland,” an illustrated version of the song. Then used Sharpie markers to draw our snow scenes with deciduous and evergreen trees and forest animals in silhouette. Then we painted our winter skies with liquid watercolor, adding salt for texture. We then added shadows on the snow, cast by the moonlight. The final touch was glue and glitter.
Students loved the idea of making cards for their families. Some couldn’t wait to write special messages inside. I hope these cards bring people a lot of joy at Christmas. Who wouldn’t love to get one of these?!
