It has been a long time since we spent a full five week session on one project, but this collage project was definitely worth it. All three levels did the same project, all had great results.

We started out learning some watercolor techniques to create painted paper that would later become whales, seals, sharks, tropical fish, etc… One special treat was getting to use masking fluid to create coral. That was a big hit! We painted the background in a gradation from dark blue to white. Two classes used tempera and two used acrylic.

After drawing all our sea creatures, students put it all together and added details with colored pencil and paint pens. I love all the unique touches and fun stories they created!
