My Kindergarten -2nd grade group have been working on Pop Art Self Portrait Collages. We began by drawing a self portrait on white drawing paper. Then, we cut out our face, hair, and shirt to make templates for collage. Since we were studying Pop Art, students were free to use whatever colors they wanted. We looked at Andy Warhol’s portraits for inspiration. Once the big pieces were down, we worked on the details…eyes, nose, jewelry, etc…
This project was designed for this age group, but I found it a little difficult for them. They still learned a lot, though.
