We did this clay project while we were doing our marigolds. We started out by painting square sheets of tag board for the background. Our goal was to create a subtle color change, gradually transitioning from one color to another. Then we got out the clay. For this project, we used Model Magic. This stuff really is great. It’s easy to work with, doesn’t make a mess, and air dries. Earlier, we had read about Frida Kahlo and got still life ideas from the book, Frida by Jonah Winter.
The next day, we painted our clay creations with tempera paint and glued them down. Everyone seemed to have fun with this. Who doesn’t like playing with clay?
