Our World Traveler workshop started this week with a visit to Peru. First, we read Up and Down the Andes by Laurie Krebs and Aurelia Fronty. We learned a little bit about Peru and the famous textiles produced by Peruvians. We talked about line and pattern, and then created our own patterns in oil pastel. We used liquid watercolor to add bands of color to these patterns. While our paintings were drying, we drew llamas using chalk and oil pastel. We then cut out the llamas and glued them to the patterned background.
My youngest daughter said this was her favorite project so far. : ) They did turn out great!
Thank you to Mary Making for the idea!
