Oh my goodness! These snowy owls are so cute! This was a really challenging project for my K-2 group. We did the snowy background first and then painted the owls on the still wet papers. Some followed me doing a directed drawing on the white board, and a few brave souls drew from photographs. Because we painted onto a wet surface, several layers were needed to achieve the layer of whiteness we wanted. This process required students to complete this project with a much more painterly approach. Instead of drawing and painting in the lines, students worked back and forth with the paint on the paper.
I was too busy teaching today to get action shots. But, if you could see how little these little artists are, you would be amazed!
