This week we took our drawings and painted papers from last week to create a flower collage. The idea was to add little bits of color just to enhance the delicate line drawings. Cutting the right shapes was a great exercise for both observation and hand eye coordination skills. Students decided what colors to use, where to place color, and when their piece was complete. I really enjoyed watching them through their thought process.
There were too many to post them all, but they were all wonderful! This project was a success for ages 5 to 12. I love that it combined drawing from observation with painting and collage. I adapted this project from a project for adults presented by Lynn Whipple in Carla Sonheim’s Year of the Spark.
